Sunday 6 April

0930: Assemble at Botanical Gardens and load coach

1000: Depart for Manchester Airport

1350: Flight from Manchester to Berlin, Easyjet EZY 1897

1645: Arrive at Berlin Schönefeld Airport. Coach transfer to Meininger Hotel Berlin Central Station)

1900: Hot meal at hotel

2000: Group meeting

2130: Early bed!

Monday 7 April

0800: Breakfast

0900: Depart hotel and walk along the river Spree to the Reichstag/parliament

0945: Visit Reichstagskuppel / dome– audioguide

1045: Walk to the Brandenburg Gate

1130: Walk to the Holocaust memorial

1300: Lunch at the Mahnmal, then walk to Checkpoint Charlie and look at the former border crossing

1415: Topography of Terror museum

1530: Walk to Potsdamer Platz. Brief visit of Sony Centre and then shopping opportunity at Potsdamer Platz Arkaden (a shopping mall). Then take the U-Bahn back to hotel

1830: Hot meal at hotel

2000: Activity: design your own Holocaust Memorial

Tuesday 8 April

0800: Breakfast

0900: Depart hotel and take U-Bahn to Jewish Museum

1000: Visit to Jewish Museum

1200: Lunch at the Theodor-Wolff-Park, then U-Bahn to the East Side Gallery

1245: Walk along the East Side Gallery - a one kilometre stretch of the Berlin Wall still remaining and decorated by various artists

1430: Boat trip on the River Spree departing from Friedrichstraße

1530: Take the U-Bahn to Gendarmenmarkt and Bebelplatz. Visit to Fassbender & Rausch chocolate shop

1700: Alexanderplatz: Shopping opportunity at the Galeria Kaufhof Department Store

1800: Take S-Bahn back to the hotel

1900: Hot meal at hotel

2000: Activity: design a section of the Wall

Wednesday 9 April

0800: Breakfast

0900: Depart hotel and take S-Bahn to Hackescher Markt and walk through Hackesche Höfe and Museum Island

1030: Neues Museum: guided tour

1200: Take S-Bahn to Olympiastadion

1230: Lunch at the Olympiastadion

1315: Guided Tour of the Olympiastadion

1430: Take U-Bahn to Kurfürstendamm. Visit the memorial church (Gedächtnis-Kirche) and Ka-De-We (a bit like Harrods!) - Shopping opportunity

1700: Go up TV Tower at Alexanderplatz (207 metres high)

1900: Hot meal at hotel

2000: Activity: Quiz and prize giving

Thursday 10 April

0800: Breakfast and then packing

0930: Depart hotel and take U-Bahn to Alexanderplatz and walk across the Alexanderplatz and have time for shopping at the Alexa –Arkaden (shopping mall)

1200: Return to hotel for lunch

1245: Lunch

1330: Coach departs for Berlin airport (Schönefeld)

1700: Flight from Berlin to London Luton, Easyjet EZY 2104

1750: Arrive at Luton airport. Coach transfer to Sheffield

2100 (approx.): Anticipated arrival at Botanical Gardens
